Nothinge - The Passage Of The Obscurantist (VHS Cassette)
Cassette + Digital Album
The album is released on a limited run of repurposed VHS cassettes, ‘The Passage of The Obscurantist’. These are in limited stock of 200. This cassette is a repurposed old VHS cassette, hand re-recorded as 'The Passage Of The Obscurantist'. As all things were considered in the making of these tapes, this is not only an album but a relic or an artifact of the premature 80s to the early 90s in manufacturing VHS cassette tapes. From disgarded blockbusters to home-video cassettes. These are old magnetic tapes re-sensualized by new sound in HIFI surround sound quality. VHS Produced, Re-recorded, and Mastered by Max Posthoorn.
Includes unlimited streaming of The Passage of the Obscurantist
via the free Bandcamp app, plus high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more.
After three years of planning and honing in what it truly means to be 'Nothinge', Nothinge independantly released its fourth studio album called 'The Passage of the Obscurantist', it is a work which merges popular contemporary styles (psychedelic pop, g-funk, experimental pop) with the chaotic and open nature of a self devised made-up language and combined with sporadic poetry, to obscure the meaning and structure to the work. The hidden symbolism of words/lyrics can be splayed out and recollected, reinterpreted in various forms that may never appear to be transparent in nature. In a way, the work signifies the intangible and disembodied presence of creative thoughts and feelings, worming their way into the nameless territories, signifying sometimes abstract works and other times coherent but primarily ambiguous within a 21st century popular music canon.

Recorded in a shipping container, the Australian artist's quirky second album is a love letter to 70’s classic rock, folk, and psychedelia. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 15, 2023
